Easy Nutritious Dog Food Recipes

Each provides 4 to 5 daily rations for my three small Pomeranians

Please read instructions on my home page before preparing these recipes for your dog.

 

Monday Doggy Beef and Potatoes

2 lbs Lean Hamburger or Other Cubed Beef

2 teaspoons Minced Garlic

12 oz Beef Broth

2 Small Red Potatoes cut in 1 inch cubes

1 Cup Fresh Beet cut in 1 inch cubes

1/2 Cup Chopped Fresh Spinach

4 Stalks Fresh Asparagus cut in 1 Inch Pieces

1 Tablespoon Grated Colby Cheese When Served

Brown Hamburger or other beef in skillet with garlic.  Remove any fat in skillet. Add beef broth, potato, and beet.  Cover and simmer for 15 minutes.    Add asparagus and spinach and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Discard any liquid left in pan. Put all ingredients in food processor and process to desired consistency for your pet.  Served with cheese (unless your dog cannot tolerate dairy) and vitamin/mineral supplement described above.  

 

Tuesday Doggy Chicken and Rice

2 lbs Skinless Boneless Chicken Breasts or 2-1/2 lbs. Skinned Chicken Pieces With Bones

2 teaspoons Fresh Minced Garlic

12 oz Chicken Broth

1/2 Cup Uncooked Brown Rice

1 Small Fresh Sliced Carrot

1 cup Fresh Cut Green Beans

1 Celery Stalk Sliced in 1/2 Inch Pieces

1 Tablespoon of unflavored Yogurt When Served

Place chicken pieces and garlic in a pan. Cover with chicken broth and water just to cover chicken pieces.  Cover and simmer for approximately 1 hour. Remove chicken from pot to cool. Add Brown Rice to stock, cover and simmer for 30 minutes.  Add all vegetables to rice/stock and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove all bones from chicken. Use a colander and strain out any liquid left in pan. Put all ingredients in a food processor and process until it is the right consistency for your pet. Serve with yogurt (unless your dog cannot tolerate dairy) and vitamin/mineral supplement described above.

 

Wednesday Doggy Venison and Barley

2 lbs Venison Cut into Stew Meat Pieces (approx. 2 Inch Cubes)

12 Oz. Beef Broth

2 teaspoons Fresh Minced Garlic

1/2 Cup Uncooked Medium Barley

1 Celery Stalk Sliced In 1/2 Inch Pieces

1/2 Peach or 2 Apricots pitted and cut in 2 inch Pieces

2/3 Cup Chopped Broccoli (include stalks)

1 Tablespoon Mozzarella Cheese When Served

Simmer Venison in a covered pot with broth and garlic for 30 minutes.  Add Barley, cover and simmer another 30 minutes.  Add vegetables/fruit and simmer for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Use a colander, and strain any liquid left in pan. Put all ingredients in food processor and process to desired consistency for your pet.  Serve with cheese (unless your dog cannot tolerate dairy) and vitamin/mineral supplement described above.  

 

Thursday Doggy Pork Chop and Yam Bake

2 LB (Approx. 6) Pork Loin or Pork Chops

12 Oz. Vegetable Broth

1/2 Medium Yam or Sweet Potato Cut 1 inch cubes

1/3 Cup Green Peas

2/3 Cup Chopped Cabbage

1/2 Red Apple Cored and Cut in 1 Inch Pieces

1 Tablespoon Cottage Cheese When Served

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place pork and vegetable broth in a covered baking pan.  Bake for 1 hour.  Add all vegetables/fruit to pan.  Bake an additional 15 minutes. Remove any bones in Pork Chops and cut in 2 inch pieces. Discard any liquid left in pan. Put all ingredients in food processor and process to desired consistency for your pet.  Serve with cheese (unless your dog cannot tolerate dairy) and vitamin/mineral supplement described above.  

 

Friday Doggy Liver and Pasta

2 lbs Thin Sliced Beef or Chicken Liver

1 Tablespoon Olive Oil

12 oz. Beef Broth

1 Cup Uncooked Whole Wheat or Vegetable Pasta

1/2 Pear Cored and Cut in 1 Inch Pieces

1 Cup Fresh Cut Green Beans

1 Cup Yellow Squash Cut in 1 Inch Cubes

1 Tablespoon Fresh Parmesan Cheese when Served

Brown Liver in skillet with 1 Tablespoon olive oil until done. Remove Liver from skillet to cool.  Add beef broth to skillet and simmer.  Add pasta, cover and simmer for 20 minutes.  Add fruit/vegetables and simmer for an additional 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cut liver in 3 inch pieces. Discard any liquid left in pan. Put all ingredients in food processor and process to desired consistency for your pet.  Serve with cottage cheese (unless your dog cannot tolerate dairy) and vitamin/mineral supplement described above.  

 

Saturday Lamb and Rice

2 lbs Ground Lamb or Other Diced Lamb Meat

2 teaspoons Fresh Minced Garlic

12 Oz. Vegetable Broth

1/2 Cup Uncooked Brown Rice

1 Medium Plum Cut into 2 Inch Pieces

1/2 Cup Fresh Peas or 1 Cup Cut Green Beans

1 Cup Butternut Squash or Pumpkin Cut in 1 Inch Cubes

1 Tablespoon of unflavored Yogurt When Served

Brown Lamb in skillet with garlic.  Remove any fat in skillet. Add vegetable broth.  When broth begins to simmer, add rice.  Cover and simmer for 30 minutes.  Add vegetables and fruit.  Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Let stand for 15 minutes. Use a colander and strain any liquid left in pan. Put all ingredients in food processor and process to desired consistency for your pet.  Serve with cheese (unless your dog cannot tolerate dairy) and vitamin/mineral supplement described above.  

 

Sunday Doggy Turkey/Oatmeal Dinner

2 lbs Ground Turkey or Other Diced Turkey Meat

1 Tablespoon Olive Oil

12 Oz. Chicken Broth

2/3 Cup Uncooked Oatmeal

1 Cup Zucchini Squash Cut in 1 Inch Cubes

1/2 Green Apple Cored and Cut in 1 Inch Pieces

1 Small Sliced Carrot

1 Tablespoon Cottage Cheese When Served

Brown Turkey meat in skillet with oil until done all the way through.  Remove Turkey and set aside. Add broth to skillet and simmer.  Add vegetables/fruit and oatmeal.  Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Remove from heat and let stand for 10 minutes.  Use a colander and strain out any excess liquid.  Combine turkey with other ingredients. Put all ingredients in food processor and process to desired consistency for your pet.  Serve with yogurt (unless your dog cannot tolerate dairy) and vitamin/mineral supplement described above.
